The "LBD" | Style Challenge

Hello Divas & Gents!

I was inspired by Daily Look to participate in their LBD Style Challenge. I am really excited to share this with you! I decided to choose this Little Black Dress because it is truly unique. I especially love the fact that it is puffed sleeve (I have been loving these type of sleeves lately), has a 3/4  arm length, and the dress itself is midi length which is ideal for me. You don't have to bare it all to look stylish. All of the pieces I decided to incorporate are edgy statement pieces. This look would be perfect for a night on the town!

The statement piece necklace has just the right amount of silver and gold and is perfect for this type of dress. It creates an illusion of a neckline and truly stands out. Of course you need a stylish watch to accent your outfit. This Michael Kors tortoise bracelet watch serves as both an elegant timepiece and jewelry!

We can't take selfies of our fun night without this gorgeous blinged out phone case. Why be plain when you can stand out? Both the clutch and the pumps say EDGY! I have never seen a clutch which is this unique. The geometric shapes balance out the structure of the dress and the red pumps with gold accent toe provide a pop of color. When I think of Spring Style in this party setting, I think of unique, edgy, elegant, fun, and cool!

Take a look at the Daily Look and pick out your Little Black Dress. I would love to see your Stylespiration :)

African Fashion | Kente Cloth

Hello Divas & Gents,

I recently posted a photo on my Facebook page and Instagram which got so much love. I decided to do a more in-depth post on it so that my readers/viewers would be in tune with a taste of African fashion. Ghana recently celebrated their 58th Independence Day on the 6th of March, and I attended a local celebration here in Houston. In case you don't know, my mom is Ghanaian and my dad is Nigerian and almost all of my family lives overseas, most in London, England (UK). I have such a diverse family with so much rich background and culture! I have always been pretty private about it, but figured I'd start to share since so many show so much interest.

Kente cloth, also known as "woven cloth", is a traditional cloth local to Ghana, which was worn by royalty. It is hand woven and comes in variety of patterns, colors, and designs which mean different things. It is truly a beautiful sight to see. I wish I could insert pictures of all the various types I had seen that night, but I didn't get a chance to ask for permission.

Here are what some of the colors mean (as quoted in Wikipedia):
Meanings of the colors in Kente cloth:[3]
  • black—maturation, intensified spiritual energy
  • blue—peacefulness, harmony and love
  • green—vegetation, planting, harvesting, growth, spiritual renewal
  • gold—royalty, wealth, high status, glory, spiritual purity
  • grey—healing and cleansing rituals;
  • maroon—the color of mother earth; associated with healing
  • pink—assoc. with the female essence of life; a mild, gentle aspect of red
  • purple—assoc. with feminine aspects of life; usually worn by women
  • red—political and spiritual moods; bloodshed; sacrificial rites and death.
  • silver—serenity, purity, joy; assoc. with the moon
  • white—purification, sanctification rites and festive occasions
  • yellow—preciousness, royalty, wealth, fertility, beauty
Here is what I wore. I wasn't able to make it to my uncle's wedding in London this past July but all the women in the bridal party had on different styles of this particular type of Kente. I was happy that I was able to wear my custom made attire for this event. Let me know what you think! Hope you enjoy!

Spring Style| Peplum ft. Statement Piece Elements

Hello Divas & Gents!

This was supposed to be posted long ago (last Spring), but I had a few technical difficulties :) Most of you have probably already seen my YouTube video  (features lots of funny bloopers!) which pertains to this post, but I wanted to share a few pictures!

Spring is the best time to rock simple dresses, and pair them with bold accessories. I paired my dress with a multi-colored pearl necklace which I got a few years ago from FantasyJewelryBox.com. It is quite a statement piece and is pretty weighty, but worth the look! I also paired it with my favorite bold pink Christian Siriano boyfriend blazer. I just can't get enough of PINK or THAT BLAZER!

What I'm Wearing:
  • Black/Grey Peplum Dress - Ross
  • Hot Pink Blazer - Designer Christian Siriano (Sam's Club)
  • Multicolored Pearl Necklace w/ Pendant - FantasyJewelryBox.com
  • Snakeskin Captoe Pumps - Life Stride (Ross)
  • Watch/Earrings - Random Places

Hope you enjoyed this post! Feel free to check out my YouTube video on this look if you want to see me modeling it. Thank you for reading, and I'd love your feedback!

Lookbook | The Red Skirt Diaries

Hello Divas & Gents!

I took another hiatus without realizing it, and I hope you are still here with me! Alot has gone on, but I will soon do another post or video when I can. I decided to create a "red skirt" diaries lookbook since I found myself rocking this one particular bodycon skirt from Forever 21+ quite frequently. You can also see the progression of looks from July to December (most frequent). Let me know what you think!

Weight Matters | Ozeri Weight Master II

Hey Divas & Gents,

I'm back with another post on my healthy journey series. I know I haven't posted in quite a while but life happens! I've been actively trying to track my food and activity as well as attend classes on how to prevent any types of diseases that may come from being overweight. This process has been quite a journey, but I will not give up! You can be beautiful on the outside and have an amazing personality, but it is also important to be healthy, fit,and even more beautiful on the inside.

With that being said, I was recently gifted another scale to review from Ozeri. If you've followed me for awhile, you know that I absolutely LOVE Ozeri products. I've never been disappointed and almost always knew that each product would be amazing. Quite a few of you also know that my career is in IT (Information Technology) so I am always excited to test out new gadgets.

Enough of the rambling...let's get down to business. If you recall from a previous posting, I expressed my love for my current scale because it is a Digital Bathroom Scale with an Electro-Mechanical Weight Dial. It is simply the best of both worlds. I thought nothing could top it...until...this one!

Here are some amazing specs about my new scale

Packaging: Front
Packaging: Back

  • Microban Antimicrobial Product Protection - protects you from bacteria.
  • Maximum Weight is up to 440 lbs- not that I would need it to be that high, but it's always settling to know that products are made with others in mind.
  • Calculates your BMI (Body Mass Index)
  • Color Alert Technology (indicates in red or green whether you've lost weight or gained weight)- highlights your net weight change.
  • LCD Full Display - you can see your weight clearly on the screen.
  • Profile Programming Mode - you can create a profile and it will update for you each time you weigh in.
I really can't think of anything negative to say about this scale except for the fact that I'd be upset if it got damaged! It is quite heavy compared to your average, but is nice and solid. When I first got the scale a few months ago, I immediately created a profile so that it would automatically detect my weight and BMI. It has proven to be a useful tool and has been aiding me in keeping track of my weight loss. I truly enjoy products that are catered to personalization, and really hope they continue the innovation! If you are in need of a great scale, I highly recommend you try it!

You can purchase this amazing scale here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J46SX5U

Disclaimer: This scale was sent to me to provide my honest opinion and review. Thank you for reading!

Spring Bling OOTD ft. The Crop Top

Hello Divas & Gents,

The weather has been so unpredictable these past few months. One day it's freezing cold, the next day rainy, the next day hot and then humid. It's been pretty moody this whole year! Sine the weather has finally decided to be a bit consistent and less bipolar, I decided to be bold and break out a sequined crop top which I've had for awhile but never worn. One of my favorite bloggers, Naturally Fashionable, has really made me love them even more! I still haven't worn them without a tank underneath but I will eventually.

Here's the cute, yet casual outfit that I put together with the crop top. The crop top is so busy and snug, so I wanted to make sure there was an even balance by wearing other plain pieces. Check out my video below to see the outfit in full effect!

What I'm Wearing:
Sequin Stripe Crop Top - Rainbow
Dark Denim - Ross
Mini Coral Blazer - Simply Fashion
Glittery Gold Ballet Flats - Payless
Accessories - Charming Charlie
Black Tank - Burlington

Curvy Cowgirl OOTD ft. Denim on Denim

Hello Divas & Gents,

It's been a long time since I've shared an outfit of the day/night with you! Now on to the nitty gritty. You know how the saying goes right? Everything truly is BIGGER in TEXAS! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is one of them. You wouldn't truly be a TEXAN if you didn't go to the rodeo. It's a fun time for the family and is filled with tons of excitement - a large carnival with soo much food (turkey legs, sausage on a stick, funnel cakes, and all that fatty goodness), bull riding, livestock, live concerts, and so much more! Most people wear Western Wear to the rodeo, and one will most often see cowboy boots, denim, and western hats!

Since I went to a concert at the rodeo, I decided to rock the Denim on Denim trend. This is one trend that I've been wanting to play around with but never had the occasion to showcase this look. Make sure and take a look at my YouTube video where I show you some snippets of the rodeo as well as show you my outfit!

What I'm Wearing:
Blue Ombre Button Down Shirt - Ross
Dark Denim Vest - New York & Company
Dark Denim Jeans - DKNY Jeans (Ross)
Bracelets - Local BSS
Earrings - Primark (London)
Black Combat Boots - Madden Girl (Ross)

Pictures:

Giddy-up, Let's Go!

Love the way the ombre button down rolls up at the elbows :)

Thank you so much for reading! Leave a comment down below and let me know how you think I rocked this trend!

Skincare Secrets| PMD Review, Demo, and Discount Code

Hello Divas & Gents,

I feel that makeup is only effective when applied to skin that is taken care of, therefore, one should always take care of what is underneath!

If you are subscribed to me on my YouTube channel, you may have heard about my new found favorite in the skincare realm. It is none other than the PMD, Personal Microdermabrasion System, or Personal Microderm. This tool is an awesome addition to my normal routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. It is also great when paired with the Clarisonic (my first found favorite).

The PMD with cord, disc, and cap connected

Left - cap for smaller disc for face; Right - cap for larger disc for body

Left: Blue disc for face (normal) and Green disc for face (medium); Right: Blue disc for body (normal) and Green disc for body (sensitive)

In my video below, I tell you ALL about the PMD. It is a great in-depth review for those who are interested or want to know more about this awesome product. I have been using it for over a month or more, and have seen significant improvement in my skin. You only want to use this product once a week so that your skin can have time to recuperate. The whole purpose of microdermabrasion is to remove the outermost layer of skin which will in turn produce new, fresh skin preventing blemishes, dark spots, and more. This also helps your skin to effectively absorb your other products such as moisturizer and foundation. Another great thing about this product is that you can use it on parts of your body, simply by removing the disc for your fae and replacing it with the disc for your body. The PMD is also much more cost-effective than spending tons of money per treatment in a medispa or dermatologist. With this device, you can perform the treatments yourself and only have to replace the discs. It is truly a unique and beneficial skincare tool.

Make sure and watch my YouTube video which will tell you all about this device. Please leave a comment down below and let me know what you think! Also, let me know if you have used this product and comment on your experience. I'd love to know.

As an incentive for both watching  and reading, use coupon code "missdeenadiva" for 25% off of your own PMD! Also, visit http://www.personalmicroderm.com/pages/try-pmd for more information.

#PowerofPlants | Boots Botanic Ionic Clay Mask

Hey Divas & Gents,

Lately, I've been introducing new skincare products to my daily regimen - cleansing, toning, and exfoliating, and hope to see even better results. My skin is already in pretty good shape, but I just want my skin (face) to have that radiant, healthy glow we all wish to achieve! I've also found a new found favorite - the PMD (review will be posted on that device soon - check out my in-depth YouTube review in the meantime).

The Boots Botanic Ionic Clay Mask was one of the products that was in the Influenster J'Adore Vox Box (see post below), and the name itself attracted me to the product. Here is my quick run down on what I think about the product.

I applied the mask to my face, and let it dry for the recommended amount of minutes, and then washed off in the shower. My only con was how runny the product was when applied to the face. It took a while for it to be thickened. Ironically though, it left my skin feeling nice, dry, and radiant. It definitely took the "shine away" as it claimed, dried super fast, and was so easy to remove from my skin. This definitely gets the green light and will be added to my skincare regimen permanently.

Feel free to take a look at some fun pictures of me wearing the mask on my Pinterest account. I created a Pin Board just for the J'Adore Vox Box. I won't post them here so that you can head over and enjoy a few laughs! http://www.pinterest.com/missdeenadiva/jadore-voxbox/

Disclaimer: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Influenster | J'Adore Vox Box {Love Theme}

Hello Divas & Gents!

A few weeks ago, I received my J'Adore Vox Box, and have been loving it ever since. It is truly filled with nothing but LOVE <3. I have received many vox boxes in the past, but I have truly enjoyed this particular box because of the theme.

The box includes:
  • Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes
  • HERSHEY KISSES Milk Chocolate
  • Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask
  • John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray
  • Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas (Creme Caramel & Lemon Chiffon)
Take a look at my unboxing, and initial thoughts of the contents of this box. #PressPlay

So far, I'm obsessed with the Hershey Kisses of course. I have a few every single day. Not too sure about the future effects of my waistline though! I'm a big tea fan so you know I had to try the tea out. Red Rose tea is definitely different than my usual Chai Tea, Green Tea, or other teas I would normally drink, but the flavors offered are so unique. I preferred the Lemon Chiffon over the Creme Caramel flavor, ironically. I will definitely buy a box of some of their other flavors! The Boots Clay Mask worked great as well, but I'll let you wait for the next post. You can find out more details on what I think about the box by checking out my Twitter and Pinterest account (@missdeenadiva)!

Disclaimer: This box was sent courtesy of the Influenster VoxBox program to review/test, and provide my honest opinions. All of my thoughts are true and honest. Thanks for reading!
