The Verdict Is In: Proactiv 3-Step System

Hey Ladies & Gents,

This will be the last installment for my Influenster Cosmo VoxBox Series. To see what I thought about the other products in my box, just refer to my previous posts on the Vitabath Body Wash and the Gilette Venus ProSkin MoistureRich razor!

Today I will be giving you my thoughts and opinions on the Proactiv 3-Step System. Proactiv has been around for quite awhile and I always remember seeing commercials on it. From reading various reviews and talking to other ProActiv users, it seems as though this product is a 'hit or miss' with most people. I have very normal skin with occasional sensitivity in my chin and neck area. Here is what I think of it....

1- Renewing Cleanser
2 - Revitalizing Toner
3 - Repairing Treatment

The ProActiv 3-Step System comes with a Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner, and Repairing Treatment Lotion which are to be used in conjunction with one another. Before I give my verdict, let me say that this is a 30-day kit and I only tested this product out for a week so results may vary if used longer. Please remember that what works for one person's skin may not work for another.

The Renewing Cleanser was not one of my favorites. It is an oil-free cleanser designed for mild to moderate acne-prone skin and contains tiny grains to exfoliate dead skin. It also contains benzoyl peroxide to penetrate pores and help kill bacteria as well as existing acne blemishes. The first few days it seemed to work fine, but then I noticed that it seemed to be a bit harsh on my skin. I don't have acne prone skin so I usually only exfoliate once a week and I prefer for my exfoliant to be seperate for my daily cleanser. I don't like the idea of this cleanser acting as an daily exfoliant. I also wish the cleanser had some type of lathering quality as well as salicylic acid instead of the benzoyl peroxide or maybe even a combination of the two. Because the formulation mainly consists of benzoyl peroxide, it tends to dry the skin which can cause irritation. I can see this working for some one with bad acne because it would dry the acne and bring it to the surface therefore clearing the skin and serving its purpose. For me, however, it is not necessary and therefore the product seemed to complicate and confuse my skin rather than keep it in its current normal state. I would give this product 3 out of 5 stars, meaning that it's an OK product but I don't know if I would invest in it again especially with its price point.

The Revitalizing Toner works very well for me. I love the formula --not too thick and not too runny. It clears my pores and does its job! It contains witch hazel, aloe, chamomile, and allantoin which are all very good for the skin and your pores. I would give this product 4 stars because my face feels refreshed after using it.

The Repairing Treatment is also one of my favorites! It is a very light medicated lotion that leaves my skin feeling firm and soft. For some reason, I get that nice feeling when I put it on --- a bit similar to when you remove a mud mask. A little goes a long way, and I find that even though this product contains mainly benzoyl peroxide like the cleanser, it also contains soothing botanicals which seem to counteract the dryness which occurred from the cleanser. I give this product 4 stars!

If you have acne-prone skin, I would definitely give this a try and see if it works for you. After all, you can get the 30-day system and then toss it if it doesn't work. It is sold as a 30-day, 3 Step System for $19.95. I thought the complete system was a good concept and it worked out OK, but I just wasn't too fond of the micro beads in the cleanser. I wouldn't use it for an occasional breakout, but I would definitely give it a shot if I had acne-prone skin. I would give the entire system 3 out of 5 stars. The Verdict Is In: Gillette Venus ProSkin MoistureRich Razor

Hello Ladies & Gents,

If you have been keeping up with my Cosmo VoxBox adventure, you will remember that I unveiled my box over a week ago and have been actively testing everything out. You can view the review and follow-up on the Vitabath Body Wash in my previous posts. This time I'm letting you know what I think about the Gillette Venus ProSkin MoistureRich Razor.

I usually test out products for one week to a month, but I only needed to test this razor once to come up with my conclusion. This review is going to be based on my knowledge of razors and me using it this past weekend.
From Gillette Venus Website: View of Razor in Package and Details of Razor

I have been using razors since high school or maybe even before then. I used to shave pretty frequently and would always purchase the most expensive razors and even remember owning lots of Gillette products. When I go to college, I started using disposables because they worked just as well and were much cheaper. Now that I've graduated from college, I actually find myself shaving less frequently but still find the need to shave because of my continuous hair growth.

From Gillette Venus Website

The Verdict
What makes this razor unique are the "moisture rich" shave gel bars that surround the razor and enable you to have a close, clean shave without using shaving cream. It is also a three-blade razor with refillable cartridges. Not only that, but it comes with a nifty shower hook with allows you to store your razor in a secure place. When I shaved my legs with this razor, my skin was so smooth and the procedure went so much faster than when I use the traditional razor. I also enjoyed the close shave along with the ergonomically friendly handle which allows for an easier and more comfortable shave. I prefer to use shaving cream for extra protection but one can make sure and wet the shave gel bar before shaving if you choose not to use a cream/gel. The one con that I noticed about this razor is how fast the shave gel bars seem to run out. I'm concerned that I may not get much use from each cartridge but I do love how smooth and hairless it leaves my skin. My final verdict would be that this razor works better than the average razor that I've used and I am enjoying it so far!

Vitabath Body Wash Follow-Up & Review:::'Spa Day' Cucumber & White Tea Fragrance

Hey Ladies & Gents!

Vitabath Body Wash in 'Spa Day' Cucumber & White Tea

It's been a whopping 7 days since my last post where I unveiled my Influenster Cosmo VoxBox, and I must say that I am honestly loving everything in the box so far. The only thing I haven't tested yet is the ProActiv SkinCare System. Now back to the body wash...

This 'Spa Day' Cucumber & White Tea Body Wash is definitely a keeper! It not only moisturizes my skin, but smells fantastic. This is one of the only body washes that I've ever tried where the lovely scent still lingers on my body hours later. I used it every morning and some nights and it was beyond refreshing to my skin. The formulation is of a clear blue light gel texture and lathers into a nice sudsy, bubbly shower experience. I'm loving it!

The benefits of this body wash is enough to put the icing on the cake! It contains Vitamins A, B3, B5, C, and E. It is also Sulfate and Paraben-free with lots of rich antioxidants such as Acai, Goji, Noni, Green Tea, and Pomegranate just to name a few! I should also note that it is free of petrochemicals, mineral oils, silicone, and many more.

Give this body wash a try and let me know what you think about it! If you have already tried it, how are you liking it so far?

Feeling SINFUL?

Oh Yes, You Guessed It!

If you've followed me for awhile, you know of my nail polish obsession...a true polish junkie at its best. I decided that I would start showcasing some of my finds and favorites (polish edition)! For this particular post, I will be featuring Sinful Colors. I enjoy Sinful Colors because they offer high quality products at an affordable price. Their nail polishes feature a variety of colors (over 30) and are very high in pigmentation. They also come in different finishes (cream, matte, metallic, glitter) and can be found at Walgreens and other drugstores. They range in price from $1.99-$2.50 but you can always get them for $0.99 during the Walgreens sales (awesome deal)! Not only that, but you can purchase them in cute holiday and a variety of themed sets that they sometimes come out with. Here are some of my featured polishes from my Sinful Colors Nail Polish Collection.

These were my go-to colors for Spring and Summer 2011!

These are my holiday/fall/winter picks for this season!
Here is a video haul that I did on my fall picks:

I hope you enjoy this post, and feel free to leave me a comment below -- let me know if you've tried Sinful Colors, if you love it just as much as I do, and/or what your favorite color is! Also, let me know if you would like me to do swatches on any or all of the colors!
